A HISTORIC INN IN THE HEART OF YORK – WHERE MY STORY BEGAN
Born in 1570 on this very spot beside York Minster, I, Guido Fawkes, could never have imagined my family home would become one of York’s most iconic inns.
Today, Guy Fawkes Inn blends centuries of history with modern comfort across its beautifully preserved Grade I and Grade II listed buildings. Beneath ancient timber beams and candlelit interiors, guests will discover individually styled en-suite bedrooms, regional real ales, and an AA Rosette restaurant serving elevated British classics in unforgettable surroundings.
Recently expanded by Fat Badger Group through the careful restoration of the neighbouring former Jackson Stops building, the inn now offers additional heritage bedrooms seamlessly woven into the historic fabric of the property. Alongside this transformation, a hidden overgrown courtyard has been reimagined into York city centre’s largest landscaped beer garden — a tranquil open-air retreat beneath the towering view of York Minster.
Whether joining us for a city break, dinner beside the fire, or drinks in the garden, Guy Fawkes Inn offers a truly unique way to experience York’s rich history, hospitality, and atmosphere.
